"John Eckles....written 15 Dec 1787, probated 20 March 1788. ....Son Joel Eckles 200 acres on north side of Wynne's Road bought from Jackson to be his at age 21. Wife Mary Eckles, the use of my 400 acres that I live on for life, or until son , William Eckles, is 21. Son Joel Eckles 100 acres off the east side of my plantation, and son, William Eckles, the rest of my plantation which will be about 300 acres. Grandson Thomas Coleman Winfield (uinderage) Daughter Nancy [Eckles] for her education. Executor: Son-in-law Francis Jackson. Witnesses: Reubin Jackson, John Crews and Gilliam Jackson."
