Henry Allen Pruett, 75, of the Dry Fork Section of Bandy, VA, died Friday afternoon, October 5, 1973, at his home following an apparent heart attack.
Born in Tazewell County, VA, he was the son of the late Sheffey and Jane (Linkous) Pruett.
He was a retired miner and farmer and a life long resident of the Dry Fork community.
He was a deacon, treasurer and trustee of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church at Dry Fork.
Four brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mila (Creed) Pruett; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Stiltner of Sparta, OH, and Mrs. Pansy O'quin of Alexandria, VA; one son, Oscar Lee Pruett of Bandy, VA; one foster daughter, Sarah Catherine Lockhart of Elyira, OH; two foster sons, Kenneth Creed of Lithia, GA, and Harold Creed of Rowe, VA; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Spence of Rt. 1, Cedar Bluff, VA; 22 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Sunday at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Stuart Owens and Sherman Grimsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pruett Family Cemetery at Dry Fork.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honarary pallbearers are Jim Horn, Ira Ray, Charlie Boyd, Claude Boyd, Clyde Boyd, John Owens, Dexter Perkins, Robert Whitt, Walter McGlothlin, Ruey Shelton, W. M. (Happy) Blankenship.
The body has been taken to the home and will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Mullins Funeral Home in Richlands, VA, is in charge of arrangements.
