The part I knew about Raymond was somewhere around 1954, he married my mother Marie Gertrude Campbell Obenchain. My mother had been married to John Edward Obenchain which was her 1st marriage and the 2nd was Raymond. Raymond and I got to do alot of things together until I went in the US Air Force. As I remember Raymond had asthma and had scars from Wyoming fire where he fought the fire. He was always good to my mother and she died in 1961. After that he was with his mother in Salem VA. Raymond died due to a heart attack and is buried in Salem VA. Raymond taught me alot we use to go hunting and fishing and he related experiences to me about Galveston TX which still linger with me today. I do not have many pictures of him and would love to get some by e-mail if you have any. My e-mail email@example.com
. I may be able to add something out of memory about by step-father because he was always good to me. Also I remember Jack Ellis that worked at the Roanoke Fruit. Mom had learned of Raymond through Jack and later married him. I can't help very much but part of the family is still in Salem VA.Don't know if this will help any but wish you well in your search. I may be a young boy at that time who had a wonderful visit with a family in SE Roanoke around Christmas 1952 that learned how to roast chestnuts.
