DAVIS, John Sidney 75, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, departed this life on October 15, 2012.
He was born in Meadowview, Virginia to William and Pearl Fitzsimmons Davis and lived in Ohio for most of his adult life.
John was an active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, Ohio where he directed the senior choir, served as Superintendent of Sunday School and was active in Christian Men's Fellowship.
Although John majored in mechanical engineering at North Carolina A & T University, he never worked in that field; upon finishing school he joined the United States Air Force and specialized in computer programming.
John spent thirty-seven years as a computer programmer and systems analyst at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, dayton, Ohio and retired as a manager and the recipient of numerous awards.
John leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Julia (46 years); daughter, Jennifer; sons, John S. Davis II and Jeffrey Craig Davis; grandson, John; sisters, Sarah Jenkins, Marcella Patillo, Lillian Riddick and Vivian Williams; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, October 23 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 34 West Pleasant Street in Springfield, Ohio,
There will also be a viewing service on Monday, October 22 from 6 - 8 at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
