Thanks for the tip. From DNA evidence I now think that it is doubtful that Capt. John Kelly came from the Kelly family that was from Kelly Parish in Devonshire. But I will certainly check variations of both the Partridge and Doniphan names as one of the bibles from James Y. Kelly even lists a child with the name Alexander DONATHAN Kelly as opposed to Doniphan. I don't know if that was a transcription error looking at the written text of the bible or if they changed the name to Donathan instead of Doniphan for this particular Alexander D. Kelly (there are many of them and this one was not the son of Capt. John Kelly).
