MCCONNELSVILLE: Lonnie Rose Jr., (70), of McConnelsville, Ohio peacefully passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 8:36pm following a short battle with cancer.
He was born June 27, 1942 in Coeburn, Virginia to the late Lonnie & Tina (Neel) Rose.
He graduated from Mansfield, Ohio Senior High School in 1962 and immediately joined the US Air force serving 4 years with a Tour of Duty in Vietnam.
Lonnie went on to work for United Telephone Company, and retiring after many years of service.
He was a member of the VFW Post 4713, American Legion Post 24, Valley Lodge 145 Free & Accepted Masons, Rufus Putnam Chapter 108 Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Port'O Morgan Boat Club and FOE-Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
He is survived by sons: Lonnie (Heather) Rose III, and Bennie (Jennifer) Rose; former wife, Barbara Rose; grandchildren: Dylan Rose, Kylie Rose, Jade Rose and Tyler Murphey; brothers: Buddy (Karen) Rose , Jerry Rose; sisters: Judy (Phil) Conners, Brenda McGuire, Ann (Steve) Bennett; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers: Bob, Charles, Bennie, Tommy Rose; and daughter: Beth Ann Farson.
Memorial Services will be held at the VFW Post 4713 in Malta, Ohio at 4pm Friday, November 30, 2012 Pastor Galen Finley presiding, followed by Military services at 5pm.
His ashes will be spread high atop a mountain in Coeburn, Virginia.
