I was told that James Stephen Ellixson died in Petersburg, VA 1901-1902. I cannot verify this information and hoped that someone could help me. James, b. abt. 1816 was the s/o Alexander Ellixson, Sr., and Mary Jones of Granville Co., NC. His wife Sarah Elizabeth O'Briant, b. 1827, was the d/o Robert O'Brien/O'Briant and Tabitha Chandler, also of Granville Co., NC. The last time I could locate James and Sarah was in the 1900 census in Halifax Co., VA, James was 81 years old and Sarah was 73. I could not locate them in the 1910 census. James served in the Civil War. I welcome any suggestions as to how I can locate when our ancestors passed away and where they are buried.
