I have perused the Virginia Historical Index a little more and it seems that Henings is arranged by county? Volumes 4 and 5 seem to be the ones that include Nansemond County which is one of the areas of interest to me - the original stomping ground of my Jernigan family in the 1600s - before they re-located to Bertie Co, NC. So I guess I would re-phrase the question that I would be pleased that the seperate volumes of Henings were available for purchase and 4 and 5 would be good acquisitions for my library. I don't think I want to shell out the kind of bucks required for the entire set.
