FYI, the Charlottesville Daily Progress is online for 1893-1923

Good resource for central VA researchers. Not yet searchable, but if you know the death (or marriage) date, search that day (yes! remember it was an afternoon paper) and the next several. You'll have to blow up the image and look at each page, but the editions are very short.

"The digital edition of the Daily Progress is a collaborative project of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library and the University of Virginia Libraries in honor of Charlottesville's 250th anniversary [2012]. Currently the digital edition covers 1893 to 1923, with the hope of expanding coverage in the future. In the nearer future this text will be scanned with optical character recognition (OCR) software which will allow keyword searching."
