Kidron... from OldRon?

Your posting was very limited in information, although you did provide a good starting point for research. You said:
> Looking for grandparents and descendants
Does this mean that these people are your grandparents? If so, you could identify their children, what you know about the family, siblings of these people, etc. Dates of Birth are VERY helpful. While I seriously doubt these people are your grandparents, perhaps you mean the grandparents of THESE persons? If so, who were their parents? Any information you provide can help.

You identified the 1910 US Census in Spokane as the source for this family. I will start with this and add specific information that can help in idenifying these people.

The 1910 Census for Spokane, Spokane County, WA, 1112 Dalton, enumerated 2-3 January.
Henry C. Rice, age 73 (circa 1836/1837), born in Ohio, to father born in New York, mother in Vermont, an employee as a nurseryman in a nursery. Married 43 years
Mary E, age 67 (1842/1843), born in Ohio to both parents born in Ohio, mother of 3, 2 living
Elmer L, son, age 28 (1881/1882), born in Washington, a financial agent in industries, married zero years.
Nora C, daughter-in-law, age 23, born in Canada to both parents born Canada.

I find the 1900 Census for Marcus, Stevens County, WA:
H.C. Rice, 63, born March 1837 in Ohio to father born in New York, mother in Vermont, Merchant
Mary E, 57, born December 1842 in Ohio to both parents born in Ohio, mother of 3, 2 living.
Edwin L. son, 19, born December 1880 in Washington

----------------JudyArtley...(Shotgun) identified these people----------
(I will add additional information from the Census to FULLY identify):

The 1920 Census for Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA, enumerated 6 Jan.
Henry C. Rice, born in Ohio, to father born in New York, mother in Canada.
Mary D. Rice, age 69, born in Canada to both parents born in Canada.

I find them in the 1900 Census for Los Angeles, LA County, CA:
Henry C. Rice, born Feb 1835 in Ohio to father born in New York, mother in Canada, disabled soldier.
Mary D Rice, born July 1847 in Canada to father born in England, mother in Canada. mother of 4, 1 living.

These two are NOT the same as the Henry C and Mary E Rice in Spokane in the 1910 Census or in the 1900 Census in Marcus, WA. They are not correct.

Again, I write...
Shotgun, you MUST, MUST, FULLY investigate a person/family before identifying it to a person seeking for family; otherwise, it may be years before the mistake is found...BUT, this mistake has crossed many databases as being correct. The Ancestry World Wide Tree is such a mass of incorrect information based on WRONG inputs into family trees.

Further information:
The Washington Death Certificate Index shows an Edwin L. Rice, died 28 December 1945 in Grand Coulee, Grant County, WA. He died at age 65 years. His spouse was Honora Cremmen (Nora C?). His father was Henry Clay Rice. His mother was Mary Elizabeth Marlan. He was an engineer.

The WDCI shows a Henry C. Rice, died 2 Sep 1915 in Port Orchard, Kitsap County, WA at age 78 (born circa 1837). There is no proof this is the correct person, he only fits criteria.

An image of the marriage of E. L. Rice and Honora Cremmen is available at the Washington Digital Archives:
http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/default.aspx
This image shows the marriage took place on February 3, 1910, in Spokane between E.L. Rice age 25, born in Washington, son of Henry Rice and Mary E. Morlan, both born Ohio. Honora, 23, was born in Ontario, Canada, daughter of Dennis Cremmen and Bridget Sullivan, both born in Ireland.

So, this ties this E.L. Rice to the correct parents and the correct spouse as identified in the 1910 census. It also ties this person to the death certificate index for Edwin. So, the census of 1910 had the wrong first name "Elmer", census enumerator mistakes are VERY common. His name WAS identified as Edwin in the 1900 census, so it is probably an enumerator error.

This will identify the family as identified above. You need to identify what connection you may have to these people and what information you already have. That only would help to prove or disprove any connection, it would help further searches.

In the meantime, IF you are connected to this Edwin L. Rice, his date of death of 28 December 1945 in Grand Coulee, WA, could "possibly" lead to an obituary:
----The Washington State Library has a free research service, the ask-a-librarian program, where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. They will look up to an hour and send you the results. Contact them at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx .

BUT, obituaries even to 1945 were not that common for us commoners. Obits were written for the famous, infamous, rich or victims of accidents or homicide by reporters. Funeral Notices were often written by funeral homes, more of an advertisement of the funeral home than an obituary. BUT, you might get lucky, so by all means, ask them to search. Identify the name, place of death. And, any additional information you may have.

It is interesting to note that he was identified as an "engineer". This small town became the home of Grand Coulee Dam. At his age, I would "doubt" that he was involved, but perhaps he was involved in the early planning in the early 1930's and stayed there through its final construction in 1942. If so, this person would be partially responsible for significant contributions to electrical production...and even to production of the Atom bomb for the Hanford, WA, site.
