I am seeking land records from 1796 through approximately 1805 for John and/or Ruhama Green (nee Nichols, prior marriage to Charles Bilderback). John & Ruhama lived in the Short Creek area of Brooke County. John may have been the John Green who was on the City Council (Commission) for Charles Towne, which was later named Wellsburg. Ruhama's first husband, Charles Bilderback, was invloved in the slaughter of innocent Moravian Indians at Gnaddhutten, Ohio in the early 1780s. He and Ruhama were kidnapped while tending cattle on the Ohio side of the Ohio River in 1789. Charles was killed and Ruhama was held captive for nine months. After her release, she married John Green in 1791. I would greatly appreciate any information on this couple and would be willing to enlist some help in gathering any court records available.
Thank you.
