I have hit a brick wall just trying to find out about my grandfather and his parents. I found my grandfather's birth record at familysearch which lists the following: John Silvernail Evans, b. 27 Jun 1903, Enterprise, Harrison, WV to Andrew S Evans and Mary Anderson Brown. Cannot find this set of parents. When I sent off for my grandfather's SS application, he listed his mother's name as Mary Silvernail - can't find her either. At the age of 16, John was working in a coal mine in WV and ran away from home to NY where he settled down, married and raised a family. They have all passed away now and I am finding this very frustrating not being able to find info! Thanks so much to anyone who can help.
