It just occurred to me that your Stanleys might be related to some that I have in my Anderson tree. I haven't worked on the Andersons in Ravenswood too much yet, but I am getting closer to starting on them.
They descend from the Peter ANDERSON/Sarah Margaret COLEMAN family near Belleville, arriving there about 1786. One of Peter's brothers, Andrew Anderson, went across the river to (later) Meigs Co., Ohio.
Andrew Anderson's oldest son, Joseph Lewis Anderson, b. 9 Nov 1792 (or 9 Oct 1796), married Nancy STANLEY, possibly the dau of John Stanley. Joseph Lewis Anderson might have died 12 Oct 1856, and might have been married 25 Feb 1823 in Ravenswood. I have not confirmed this info yet. I have a note to check Jackson Co. Death Records, p. 7, A-E... Does anyone have access to that who would be willing to confirrm that for me?
Another one of Andrew Anderson's sons, James Anderson (1801-1888), married Susan HUGHES on 7 Sep 1826 in Mason Co., VA.
Andrew Anderson also had a daughter, Sarah b. 1805, who married John Stanley. She was also married to Oren SEELEY or STANLEY.
Rebecca Anderson, another daughter of Andrew Anderson, married Abraham HUGHES on 5 Jan 1829 in Meigs Co., Ohio.
I have been working farther back, on Peter Anderson's grandparents and great-grandparents and am trying to finish up one generation before moving on to the next. I am grateful to have many good resources to start with, so I know where to start my research on each generation.
If any of these STANLEY or HUGHES families are familiar, I'd love to share info. I have recently ordered the Jackson County history book through a used bookseller. I should be receiving it any day now. I can't wait to see what it tells me. The Andersons were connected to so many Wood and Jackson and Meigs county families.
