John Floyd, esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia:
TO ALL TO WHOM these Presents shall come, GREETING: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a Survey, made on the twenty seventh day of January 1830, By Virtue of two land Office Treasury warrants, to wit, 40 acres by No. 10160 issued December 6th 1828 and 20 acres by no. 10314 issued October 6th 1829: there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto James Milem
A certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing sixty acres, Situate in Logan counety on Elk horn creek a branch of the Tug fork of sandy river and bounded as followeth, to wit; Beginning on a black oak, poplar and maple in the lowest end of a bottom S76°E 28 poles crossing the creek to a beech and spruce pine on the S.E. side of the creek, thence with the creek and binding thereon N54½°E 200 poles to a birch and spruce pine on the bank of the creek, thence up the creek S41°E 48 poles to a white oak and pine on the bank of the creek at the bend thereof & still with the creek N57½°E 50 poles to a white oak and spruce pine in the edge of a Laurel bottom, thence crossing the bottom S69½°W 22 poles to a birch and spruce pine on the bank of the creek on the bend, thence with the creek and binding thereon S15°W 48 poles to three white oaks and spruce pine at the lower end of same clifts N68°W 16 poles to a hickory on the side of a hill N38°W 50 poles to a large poplar and white oak on the side of the hill due W. 38 poles to a red oak and poplar S58°W 48 poles to a maple and dogwood on a point S[21?]°W 60 poles to a large poplar and two lynns near the point of a hill S54°W 102 poles to the beginning
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said James Milem and his heirs forever.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said John Floyd, esqr. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his Hand, and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the fifteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one and of the Commonwealth the fifty sixth ~
