So far I have been unable to locate the burial place of my Great Grandfather James R. Jones. An Irish immigrant, he fought for the Union during the Civil War in the 6th WV Cavalry. He died suddenly at home in Wheeling in August of 1863, after having been court martialed out of the army in June of 1863 (Grafton). I sought help from the Wheeling Genealogical Society; they were unable to find any information. I also contacted the Wheeling Catholic Historical Society but never heard from them.

James R. Jones' wife, Catherine Josephine Connelly Jones moved her family to Cincinatti,Ohio not much more than a year after her husband's death.

I would be grateful for anyone's help or advice on how to proceed with my search ...from a distance since I live in Texas.
