it got posted to the JARRELL ListServer or the general internet it
would appear as 30 Nov 19(private) which tells everyone that I have
a hard date and no further research needs to be done.

Having said that - I post my dob in it's natural form because I'm
not concerned about it.

Vera Swim Died At 76

Bluefield - Mrs. Vera Flora Swim, 76, of San Bernardino, Calif.,
formerly of Bluefield, died Saturday in a San Bernardino nursing
home after a long illness.

Born in Bluefield, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and
Gertrude Spangler Jarrell,

Survivors include one daughters, Mrs. Ozella Crowder of San
Bernardino; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Baldwin of Bluefield and Mrs.
Zelma Swim of Princeton; two brothers, Fred of Princeton and Verda
Jarrell of Bluefield; two grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.

Burial will be in Shumate Cemetery at Bluefield.

Mercer Woman Succumbs At 68

Athens - Mrs. Eula Mabel Shumate, 68, of Athens, died in a
Princeton hospital on Friday.

Born at Bluefield on February 19, 1898, she was a daughter of the
late Robert and Gertrude Spangler Jarrell.

Survivors include her husband, Jason Shumate; two sons, Clarence
and James, both of Athens; a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Akers of
Roanoke, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Houston Swinn of Princeton, Mrs.
Bertha Simm of California, and Mrs. Edith Bowling of Bluefield; two
brothers, Berta of Bluefield and Fred of Princeton; 10 grand
children and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

BLUEFIELD - Frazier Irvin 'Whitey' Baldwin, 85, of 1230 Thompson
Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 in a Bluefield hospital.

Born May 24, 1918, in Hartwell, he was a son of the late Newton and
Martha White Baldwin.

Mr. Baldwin was retired from Bluefield Supply as a department
manager with 46 years of service. He was a member of the Pocahontas
Electrical Institution and a member of the Bluefield Supply Bowling
League for many years and was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
brothers, John and Earnest Baldwin; and two sisters, Flora Mabrey
and Myrtle Sexton.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edith Jarrell Baldwin of
the home; a daughter, Dixie B. Aker and husband William K. of
Bluefield; two brothers, Lee Baldwin and wife Julia of Sun City,
Ariz., and R.D. Baldwin and wife Francis of Knoxville, Tenn.; a
sister-in-law, Louise Baldwin of Woodbridge, Va.; two grand
children, Paul W. Aker and wife Diana of Charlotte, N.C., and LeAnn
Aker also of Charlotte; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer and
Courtney; one great-great-grandchild, Briana; and numerous nieces
and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Baldwin will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Wednesday from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel in Bluefield with the
Rev. Richard Baldwin officiating.

There will be a visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be nephews and friends of
the family.

Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery
located in Princeton.
