Harper-Mallow child late 1890's?
Eric Hedrick has released his newest CD of the Official Bond Book for Pendleton County 1866-1925. It contains a large number of paternity bonds. http://www.erichedrick.com/pendbooks/
Per a bond dated 28 Mar 1899, G.W. Mallow and Virginia Harper entered an agreement for support of her illegitimate child whom she said was fathered by A.W. Mallow.
The Mallow men seem to have been George Washington Mallow and his son, Abraham William Mallow. There is no further identification of Virginia Harper in the bond but a Jennie Harper, likely the daughter of Margaret Harper, appears on the 1900 census in the household of Miles Flynn and there is also a 2 yr old male, George Dewey Mallow, listed in the household as a boarder.
Can anyone help with the various relationships - was George Dewey Mallow the son of Abraham Mallow? Who was Jennie Harper (the Virginia Harper of the bond)? Who were her parents? Was she later the wife of Miles Flynn? Is this the George Dewey Mallow who died in Altoona, Pennsylvania in the mid-1950's?
Eric has also released three CDs of digital photos of original marriage bonds and consents from Pendleton County 1791-1803, 1804-1806 and 1807-1818. He included incomplete bonds and other material from the files, some of which has not been transcribed or otherwise published. The lists of the bonds can be seen at: http://www.erichedrick.com/pendmbonds/
As usual, Eric has done a great job with both projects and there are new clues and documentation for several Pendleton lines.
