Lemasters/Ferrell Family of West Virginia, Need Help

Hello, I have the following information on a certain Ferrell/Lemasters family in West Virginia. If anyone has any other information or photo's of this couple, I would love to hear from you. I would be glad to share what I have gathered so far. I am not researching the entire Ferrell family, just this couple. My main focus is the Lemasters family that married into the Ferrell family:

James M or N Ferrell, b. 10 February 1857 in Tyler County, Virginia later to be West Virginia. Son of Benjamin Franklin Ferrell and Sarah Jane Pipes. James died 3 February 1937 in Calhoun County, West Virginia and is buried in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Calhoun County, West Virginia

Married Mary Jane Lemasters on 21 March 1880 in Tyler County, West Virginia.

Mary was born abt. 1856 in Tyler County, Virginia, the daughter of Valentine Lemasters and Susannah M. Rice and died 24 June 24, 1922 in Calhoun County, West Virginia and is buried in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Calhoun County, West Virginia

James and Mary Ferrell only had 1 child that I can find, Susie Ferrell born about 1883. Susie married Bernard H. Price.

From the Charlotte Daily Observer, Charlotte, NC, Front Page, Saturday, 3 December 1910 - WEALTHY WOMAN MURDERED - Had No Faith in Banks and Was Killed For Her Savings - Sistersville, W. Va., Dec. 2--Mrs. Elizabeth Allen, aged 87 years, a wealthy widow, was found dead today at her home at Sherley near here. A large sum of money which she had in the house is missing, and the coroner is of the opinion she was strangled to death, after which the robbery was affected. Mrs. Allen lived alone and had no faith in banks. She owned considerable property, including several farms on which were producing oil wells. The money she received in royalties from these wells she kept in the house.
When Mrs. Allen did not appear early in the day search was made for her and she was found fully dressed, in a rear room on the floor. Other rooms were in confusion, showing she had fought hard for her life. The physician who was called said a number of small bones in her hand were broken and her windpipe had been crushed. In a house 20 feet away Mrs. Allen's son, John, is dying from tuberculosis. Attorneys for Mrs. Allen went through the house late today and found $172 sewed in an old quilt and $12 in an old sofa. There is missing an old wallet 1 which Mrs. Allen is known to have had over $3,000 in cash, with bonds, notes and other securities.

Mullin - Quakers in Sistersville area

My family the Mullins (Mullens) moved to Sistersville sometime around 1815-1810 (from Delware/Penn area) and then moved to Illinois sometime around 1835. According to their records they were Quakers in the period prior to 1835.

Can anyone help me find Quaker records that might document their marriage (probably about 1815 in Penn/Delaware) and children's birth (in Sistersville)?

Also I can share my research about the Mullins if anyone is interested.

They are buried in the Anderson-Bethel Cemetery in Littleton, WV (though in separate sections as they were divorced.

Davis/Swan of Tyler Co.

For many years I have been seeking the parents of my Martha Swan, b. abt. 1826 in Tyler Co, WV. I have suspected that possible her parents were Rolland Swan and his wife, Susannah. Until today I did not know the surname of Susannah, and have now found it to be Davis. There were several Swan children that married Davis children - I don't know if all the Davis children were of the same family or not.

These marriages all were in the period from 1818 to abt 1825. I am hoping that somebody might have information on the Davis family and how it relates to the Swan family and who the children of these various unions may be.

Rolland and Susannah Swan were found first in Tyler Co, but in later census records were in Guernsey Co, Ohio, where Martha Swan McCann was also living with her four daughters after the death of her husband, John McCann.

Ault, Jesse Adam (Chap), 28, of Dublin, Va., formerly of Middlebourne, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Tunnis, Iraq.

Jesse was born February 18, 1980, in Wheeling, W.Va. a son of Ronald Ault and Virginia Elaine von Dran Ault Billiter. Jesse was a Protestant, a 1998 graduate of Tyler Consolidated High School, he had served four years with the 82nd Airborne Unit from Fort Bragg, N.C., and currently was serving with the 429th Brigade Support Battalion of the Virginia Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harold von Dran, and paternal grandmother, Betty Ault.

Surviving in addition to his mother and step-father, Virginia (Eric) Billiter of Paden City, W.Va.; his father and step-mother, Ronald (Debi Wise) Ault of Bethesda, Ohio, are his wife, Sarah Elizabeth (Betsy) Allen Ault; children, Adam and Rachael Ault and Nathan Jennings, all of Dublin, Va.; a brother, Andrew Ault of Greenbrier, Tenn.; maternal grandmother, Billie von Dran of Greer, S.C.; paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Roger and Phylis Ault of Cameron, Ohio; step-sisters, Adrianne Billiter of Virginia Beach, Va., Erica Billiter of Buffalo, N.Y., Crystal (David) Phillips of Bethesda, Ohio; and a step-brother, Bryan (Becky) Hull of Belmont, Ohio.

Friends were received April 19 from 5-8 p.m. at Bower Funeral Home, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski, Va., where services were held April 20 at 2 p.m., burial followed in Dublin, Va.

It is a beautiful gravestone. I do not know if it came from Wetzel or Tyler but I sure would like to know where it came from and the hstory behind it. I checked both the 1850 and 1860 Tyler and Wetzel Co Census and didn't find any Crady listed. Does anyone recognize this name?

Allen E. (Boots) Henderson, age 67, of Bridgeway Addition, Middlebourne, died Monday, September 24, 2007, at his home. He was born September 4, 1940, in Middlebourne, a son of the late Charles and Freda Smith Henderson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Belle Anderson Henderson; and brother, Charles Smith.

He is survived by his son, Allen E. Henderson, Jr, and wife, Becky, of Middlebourne; daughters, Virginia Kay Davis and husband, Roger, of Middlebourne, and Georgia Vandruff and husband, Brad, of West Union; brother, Shirl (Butch) Henderson of Middlebourne; sister-in-law, Norma Long of Middlebourne; niece, Peggy Smith of Friendly; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Juanita was a homemaker and a member of the Iuka Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin W. Weekley, and a granddaughter, Cathy Jean Skiles.

Survivors include her five children, Norma Williams of Uniontown, Pa., Ernie Weekley and his wife Donna of New Martinsville, Patsy Fonner and her husband Ed of Newport News, Va., Kathy Lee and her husband Dave of York, S.C., and John Weekley and his wife Sue of New Martinsville; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Marge Staley and Betty Adams.

I'm trying to find any information on William Henry Wright, b. Friday March 25th d. 1936 at 72. He married Clara (or Clarissa) Dorella Earley (I traced the Earleys back to her father Thomas and his parents Alexander Earley and nancy Davis, they were married in 1822).

William H and Clara gave birth to my grandfather Leonard Thomas Wright who died in 2000. Leonard married Pauline Mossor (I haven't done much on the Mossors).

I don't think WH Wright married Amanda Straight as I've seen in some posts, but I don't know as I don't see a divorce on file.

I am looking for the parents of Margaret E. Kennedy b. 30 June 1891 Pa. died 1974 Sistersville, Tyler, W.V. She had a sister Ceilie b abt. 1886 married Charles M. Shaul, there were supposedly five Kennedy children, their parents both died when Margaret was about 5 years old, they were crossing the river in Winter and the ice broke and they both drowned, this could have been anywhere from 1896 to 1899, as I also found a birth year of 1893 for Margaret.

Ten Mile-Wolf Pen Road/Wolf Pen Grade School, Need Help

Hello, I have posted about this subject before, but I believe it has been a couple of years, so trying again.

I am searching for any and all information concerning the Wolf Pen Grade School that was in Tyler County, WV. My great-great grandfather Fenton Clark LeMasters was supposedly a teacher and possible the superintendant of the school around 1898. The family story is that his future wife, Louis Estel Debolt, was attending this school and that is how they met and married on May 8, 1898. They actually married in Wetzel County.

I have a document that has a photo of the school and is entitled "Wolf-Pen School Report of Scholarship" At the time this document was produced the teacher of the school was a Mr. A.M. Grimes. I believe this to be a one room school house that taught all grades.

I also believe that this school was located on Hwy 32 as I have photo of a state road sign that says Ten Mile/Wolf Pen Rd.

If anyone can shed anymore light on this school or if there are any records that survive for the time period of 1898, please contact me.

I am looking for the will of Adam Hider (Hyder.) He lived in the area that is now Proctor in Wetzel Co. He died in the year 1844 in Tyler Co. A cousin said that he thought he saw one in Tyler Co. I know that he was married twice and had six children from each wife and of the twelve children the first and last child was a son. The last child was my Great Grandfather Charles Wesley Hider (Hyder) who was born in the year 1842. Adam was near 80 years old at his birth.

Lula Belle Henderson, age 64, of Bridgeway Addition, Middlebourne, left us to be with her savior on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at her home. She had a long battle with cancer. She was born March 12, 1942, a daughter of the late Arza A. and Lula I. Patterson Anderson.

Lula Belle was a homemaker and a member of the Community Church on Wick Road.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Lewis I. Anderson, George W. Anderson, Oliver A. Anderson, Herbert F. Anderson, Donald E. Anderson, and Wilbert C. Anderson; and two sisters, Donna Jean Anderson and Della Mae Anderson.

She is survived by her husband, Allen (Boots) Henderson, Sr.; two daughters, Virginia Kay Davis of Middlebourne, and Georgia L. Vandruff and husband, Bradley, of Shirley; a son, Allen Henderson, Jr. and his wife, Becky, of Middlebourne; a sister, Norma M. Long of Middlebourne; seven grandchildren, Kimberly D. Burch and her husband, Joshua, Bobbi Murphy and her husband, James, Robert Wise, Justin Pratt, Andrew Pratt, Heather White, and Rusty Evans; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Henderson, Brandon Wise, Kaylee Forrester, Brittany Murphy, and Trevor Wise.

She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Services were held at the Furbee Funeral Home in Middlebourne on Saturday, Feb. 17, with Reverend Tim Childers officiating. Interment at Mt. Aris Cemetery, Frew Community, in Middlebourne.

First, some background....

My grandpa, Charles Benton Anderson, was born in Middlebourne, Tyler County, West Virginia, on 8 APRIL, 1888.
His father's name is John B.F. Anderson and his mother's name is Phebe Jane (GRAY) Anderson. (They were married in Doddridge County in 1880.)
The Andersons have connections with both the Ferrells and the Swigers.
John B.F. Anderson's father is Benjamin O. Anderson, who was married to Rachel Virginia Ferrell.
John B.F. Anderson's brother is George Washington Anderson, who was married to Rachel Bird Swiger.

Now....., I'm trying to make some connections here.
Robert Grear Anderson was also born in Middlebourne, Tyler County, West Virginia, (his birthdate is 22 JAN 1869.)
Robert Grear Anderson's wife's name is Ollie Myrtle Swiger.
(Hmmm, another Anderson/Swiger connection!)

What I'd like to do is to find the connection between John B.F. Anderson and Robert Grear Anderson!

We have all these Andersons being born in (and growing up in and around) the Tyler County vicinity, and marrying Ferrells and Swigers.

It would be nice if I could start connecting these Andersons together.

I am a Kimble researcher trying to piece together the Kimble/Kimball families of Tyler Co., WV. Daniel and his wife Mary (unknown) Kimble were in Tyler Co for the 1830 census. I have identified most of their children. However, I am curious about a son named Wilson Britton Kimble and another possible son named William Britton Kimble. It would seem likely that there would be a Britton connection to this family.

Could Wilson Britton and either of his wives have had a daughter that has yet to be identified? I also have a lot of early Kimble/Wade marriages in this family group, so when I notice that Wilson Britton married a Jane Wade it seemed too much of a coincidence. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am looking for the death/burial information for my gr-grandfather, Clayton Steed, DOB: 19 Dec 1859, Thomas Run, Pleasants, WV, USA m. Nancy Agnes Brewer.

His will was probated on 26 Sep 1918, but based upon death in a Railroad Wreck on the B & O [prob. File Number 431
], he likely died on 22 May 1917, near Irving (?), Harrison, WV, USA [Perhaps Tunnel #10?]. I have been unable to find his death or burial so far in Tyler, Pleasants, Harrison or even Barbour County[site of other wreck]. Railroad employee information does not appear to have survived.
