Funeral services were held at St. Matthew's Lutheran church, Almena, on Monday afternoon, April 14. Rev. W.E. Klinkenberg officiating, for John Stephen Naser, 88, who died Thursday evening, April 10, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Swansen.
Mr. Naser was born in Bavaria, Germany, June 24, 1853, where he grew to manhood. He came to America in 1884 and settled in St. Paul where he was married to Miss Katherine Walters, Mrs. Naser died a few years later, leaving two daughters, Anna and Emma. Mr. Naser married Miss Louise Gabriel on Oct 7, 1893 and in the same year Mr. Naser and his family came to Wisconsin to make their home on a farm north of the village of Almena. Mr. and Mrs. Naser retired from farming in 1917 and went to live in the village, which was their home until death.
Mr. Naser is survived by four sons, George of Santa Barbara, Calif., John of St. Paul, Joseph of St. Cloud, Minn., Edward of Eau Claire, and seven daughters, Mrs. Joseph Stoeberl, Sr., Mrs. William Effertz and Mrs. Henry Swansen of Almena, Mrs. Charles Anderson of St. Paul, Mrs. Perry Mc Cann of Eau Claire, Mrs. Bernard Madsen of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Charles Rathke of Clayton; 30 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Mrs. Naser died Dec. 29, 1937. Two daughters also preceded him in death, Mrs. Henry Ruhlin, on Feb. 23, 1922 and Mrs. Fred Yousten on June 5, 1942.
Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery beside the remains of his wife.

A. Plahn, Clayton; Miss Bernadette Swansen, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mc Cann, Mondovi; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brost, Miss Lenore Brost, Mrs. Joseph Kress, Bernard Hirsch, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Adams, Amery; Mrs. Francis Effertz, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Laskowski, Turtle Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Art Knutson, Prairie Farm; Mr. and Mrs. Carmen DeNucci, Mr. and Mrs. Henry ______(unreadable)er, Sr., Cumberland.
All of Mr. Nasers children with the exception of George came for the funeral.
