Hi,

I have a relative that emigrated to USA from Sweden and I have a hard time finding any more information about him. Such aswhere he was living, family and so on. It is probably just me not knowing how to go about in the american records and not beeing very skilled at it.I though maybe you could get me some good advice and pointers.

I'm looking for a John Villehad Wikström who emigrated from Skellefteå, Sweden 1922. I have found him in the passenger records and his arrival on Ellis Island. In those records (Ellis Island) I have also found out that he was going to stay with his Uncle Karl Andersson, R.4, Box 39, Barron, Wisconsin. Based on that I also found the Naturalization Records, Barron Series 13, Location 2-4-2 and Volum 10, Wikstrom, John Willehad 1923, #857. But here it all ends. I have tried the census and other records available here on ancestry but I must be missing something.

My other tack was to locate Karl Andersson to see If I could find anything on him. So, based on the Swedish church records his name was Carl Willehad Andersson, born 27 Sept 1864 and emmigrated to North America in 26 May 1883 (The month, day is what the church records says he moved, so when he actually went on a boat or arrived in america is unclear). I have not been able to find anything on him after that more than the mention in the Ellis Island records for John's arrival.

So, any advice or pointers would be great ...

Thanks a lot,
