Thanks so much for this information. I am a granddaughter of Amos. The census taker spelled his name wrong. It was not Emil it was Amos.
Mary Johnson Doers lost her mother, Jane Porter, when she fell down the stairs.
Amos and Mary's daughter Dora died in childbirth whe her son Arlington Bishop was born. Mary tried to raise Dora's two kids but they had to be farmed out to other families.
The Johnson/Marshall family carried depression and bi-polar disease. They passed it down through Mary, Silas and other sibs. My great grandmother Mary was beautiful kind patien woman but she passed the mood problem at a 90% rate for endless generations.
I have just published my memoir Among the Silent Giants telling about growing up in logging camps with my Doers family. It is on Amazon. I have much more information. email@example.com
