Silver Spring Brewery - Green Bay WI Michael Baier (Beyer)

I am looking for information about the Silver Spring Brewery which existed in 1880 in Green Bay. It was owned by my great grandfather, Michael Baier (Beyer). The story I heard is an associate, perhaps a relative ran off with the money so the brewery had to close. Michael Baier was born aug 24, 1832 in Loffelstelzen, Germany, and died June 14, 1900 in Green Bay, married Magdalena Weiss and had 12 children

Thorval RASMUSSEN was b. 25 Jan 1886 in Wisconsin, probably Green Bay. He d. 10 Apr 1964 in Green Bay. He was married on 9 Dec 1911 to

Rose PETERS / PEETERS who was b. in Wisconsin in 1893. They had one son, Norman Thorval who was b. 4 Jul 1921 in Green Bay.

Looking for obits and/or any info on this couple and their family.

Peter was b. Dec. 1850 in Denmark and died 26 Feb 1936 in Green Bay. He was married on 17 Apr 1883 to

Anna Kristen Petria ANDERSEN. She was b. 24 Jul 1859 in Denmark and d. 29 Jan 1886 in Green Bay.

They had three children:
Emma - married Andrew JORGENSEN
Andrew - married Thyra Alice "Tillie" LARSEN
Thorval - married Rose PETERS (PEETERS)

All of the children remained in the Green Bay area.

His wife would have had maiden name Martin. She attended a funeral in Alexandria, Minn about 1938 for her oldest sister Matildas Martin CollinShe would have been born at Bay Settlement(near Champion/Robinsonville). He would have been born somewhere around 1860 or 1870 or so. I do not know where he was born nor when he died.

I do have a few interesting items I have found, that I feel I am fairly accurate on, regarding your grandmother! I would love to run them by you, to see if I am correct, and/or to learn if you are aware of these most amazing circumstances! Being close to the proximity in which this group of people immigrated too(especially on the weekends....) well, has led to a new found-- ---well, obsession with the research of these great settlers and the devotion they had to making a life for themselves here! My 4th G grandmother was Marie Isabelle Nellis, b 1790 in Belgium. Married Frank Francois Doyen, b 1793 in Belgium. I am trying to locate any information on their families. Parents, brothers, sisters, etc. I only have descendants of theirs.

They resided in Brown county. Not sure if they are family members that you are looking for, but I can share what I have.

I was responding to Gwing's request, this is a family tree website and people help others not meaning any harm. Information such as obituary is a public record. I would only look if Gwing requested, as I offered. Never heard back, your bold response is all that I ever received. I don't need any information on your daughter, nor do I want any. However Gwing may be a relative ask them, and maybe in a more polite way, you may then find out who or what and why they are looking for information on her. Enjoy your evening.

Jules Carre -- Bigamist in 1890s Green Bay, Wisconsin

This is my paternal grandmother's mysterious grandfather, Jules Joseph Carre, born about 1855 in Belgium.

Carre married an Irish immigrant, Anna E. Degnan, and had two children in Rockford, Illinois, before vanishing around 1881. He turned up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he married an unknown woman and lived with her for about 12 years. In 1896, he returned to Belgium to see about his late father's estate, and while there married another unknown woman.

A newspaper article found at GenealogyBank.com detailed how a "letter of inquiry" from Belgium alerted Wife No. 2 that Carre was married in Belgium. Her investigation led to finding out about Wife No. 1 back in Illinois.

She married a man named James Warwick of Green Bay. Wife No. 3 in Belgium discovered the bigamy and ousted Carre. He returned to Green Bay to find Wife No. 2 remarried.

The newspaper article ended with the statement that none of the three wives wanted Carre, and that he was homeless. It did not mention their names or give any other information.

I'm curious to know whether anyone knows who the second wife might have been, and what happened to Carre (whose real name was actually Lequarre or Lequiere). A search for James Warwick has been inconclusive.

I am researching the LeFevre, Nellis, Rubens, Destiche with connections to Cravillions, Ducats, Namurs & others who immigrated from areas of Belgium to the Northeast side of Brown County, Southern Door County and Kewaunee Counties in the 1855-1857 time period. I have a great deal of information already accumulated and researched and am hoping to connect some of the missing links and pieces that exist. If you connect with any of these families, please let me know, as perhaps we can fill in some missing details for one another!

ALSO, I wondered if any of you have went to research the documents on file with any of the local historical societies, libraries, and/or the Mormon Church locally/in Brown County, Wisconsin or elsewhere? If so, I am interested in learning of information or documentation that can be found by visiting any of these locations, to determine the value of time put into doing just that.

Has anyone ever heard of a place in Brown County named "Boan"? The 1924 obituary of my ancestor John Gazett says he was born in Boan, Brown county, Wisconsin in 1861. I've looked everywhere, and can't find anything even close to "Boan". Was it the original name of a township? post office? church?

Thank you for finding this for me. Without the grave marker, I wouldn't have known for sure that James was a doctor.

Now I have discovered Dr. Boylan was living in Eddyville, NE, employed as district surgeon for the UP Railroad. He had a number of relatives living in the Eddyville area, including the owner of the photo I mentioned. http://books.google.com/books?id=LqwhAQAAMAAJ&lpg=PA1584...

There is a Dr. James Henry Boylan buried here in Brown County. Patrick and Sarah had a daughter named Ellen, who apparently never married, she was still single in 1920, living with her Mom. This appears to be her, in the same cemetery as Dr. Boylan.

I have a photo labeled "Dr. Boylan, cousin" It was taken in Green Bay, Brown County, WI.

The original owner of this photo (my great-grandmother)had an aunt named Sarah O'Mara (1840- 1921) who married Patrick Boylen (1829 - 1905). They lived in Holland (Hollandtown), Brown Coutny, WI http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/21591943/person/1169080047

I am assuming that this photo is of one of Patrick and Sarah Boylen's sons or grandsons. Can anyone identify who this doctor was.

d 14 Apr 1921. I do not need an english language newspaper, I already have that. I am hoping that the german language newspaper might yield different information. Pierre Pigeon family pictures and farm

I am interested in finding pictures of any of the Pigeon's who came to Brown County from the Grez-Doiceau area of Belgium. Original immigrant was Pierre Pigeon who was married to Anne Marie Martin. They had children named Zenon, Pierre/Peter, Marie Josephe Rosalie, Adele, Henriette, Jeanne Josephe Sidonie, and Desire Jean Baptiste. I believe this may be Mildred Hagerty, based on her birthdate in the social security death index, which matches the Wisconsin birth index (No proof yet, but an educated guess)

You can find their graves here, including that of Ann Dickie, Elizabeth's Mother. I noticed there is a listing for a Harriet Hagerty in the same cemetery, who would be about the right age for James and Betsy's daughter.

in 1900 James, Elizabeth and Charles are in Green Bay, Brown County.
