Sounds as if Amalia is a second wife of John H. Arps Sr., the theater article that mentions her, as the wife of John H. Arps Senior, seems to be from the 1876 centennial celebration. A mention of the Golden anniversary of New Holstein in 1898 mentions "John Arps was busy setting up windmills and pumps and his sons became experts in making by hand, tin
dishes, milk cans and strainers. The 1898 article doesn't name him as John Sr. Although it doesn't look like Amailia was mother to any of John's children, perhaps the address you offered would help. Thank you, Jean ( jloehde@aol.com)
