Clements, Lily O.
MADISON - Lily O. Clements, age 87, died peacefully on April 18, 2003. She was born on May 27, 1915 in Pumpkin Hollow, Wis., the daughter of Even and Anna (Christofferson) Storteig. On July 8, 1933, Lily was united in marriage to Edwin J. Clements at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison. They resided on Spaight Street for over 60 years until Edwin's death on March 23, 1995. Shortly after his death, Lily moved to Meadow Grove Apartments, where she enjoyed her later years with her friends. Lily worked as a waitress for the Esquire for over 23 years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Parish, the Ladies Auxillary Eagle Club, and the Moose Lodge. In her earlier years, she owned the Hamilton lunch and assisted chiefs Ray Negus and Carson Gully. Lily enjoyed playing various card games and crocheting. She is survived by her seven children, Mary Loper of Tampa, Fla., Barbara (John) Waters of Athens, Ga., Nancy (Robert) Marshall of Tampa, Fla., Susan (David) Wineke of Madison, Robert (Sally) Clements of Stoughton, Thomas (Pat Shealy) Clements and Michael (Susan) Clements all of Madison; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Kurt Mayhew of DeMott, Ind.; one sister-in-law, Roselyn (Jack) McWilliams of Portage, Wis.; and two brothers-in-law, William Clements and Alvin Hoene both of Madison. Lily was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edwin; a son David Clements; a daughter, Julie Mathew; son-in-law William Loper; two grandsons, Craig Loper and Richard Waters; two sisters, Anna Bongard and Edna Hammen; and two brothers, Knute Knutson and Carl Storteig. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 404 E. Main Street, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2003, with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N.
