Classification: Query
Surnames: Chester DelaMatyr Jones
We think that George arrived in New York from England in 1 Jun 1849 and is next heard of in the 1850 census in Eagle, Waukesha, Wisconsin living with the Family of William Jones (c.1817 England) who is a Stonemason and may have come from Grinshill, Shropshire, England a small town famous for its stone quarry.
He later moved to Fox Lake, Dodge Wisconsin where in 1860 he is a Methodist Minister married to Jenny or Jane DeLaMatyr and with a daughter Carrie A Chester (c.1857, Wisconsin)
He enlisted in the army in 1 Jul 1863 with his residence given as Union, Rock, Wisconsin and died about 1865. He had a son George (1861-1936)who is living with his mother in 1870 in Middleton Dane Wisconsin and next known as a Fruit grower in Florida. He had no children but his sister probably married in Wisconsin as she did not join George and his mother in Florida.
I am also posting this on the Dodge, Dane and Rock boards in case someone links to him there.
