Carol, I had a few minutes today so I got by the court house. Here is what was on his death cert:
Fred Smith Thompson
B: Feb 19, 1872, Orin Illinois
D: Dec 29, 1944, Superior, WI
Died at 72 years 10 months 10 days.
Retired Postmaster
Cause: Cerebral Hemorrhage due to Hypertension
Buried at Nemadji Cemetery (Superior) on Jan 2, 1945.
His father: Delos D. Thompson
B: N.Y.
His mother: Mrs. Caroline Thompson

Finding this I stopped at the library and got a photo of his obituary. Then from there headed out to the cemetery and photographed his monument. Also photographed his wife and daughters who are buried in the same plot.

There were some Moore family members buried nearby so I added them as well. I have no idea of they are or are not family of the Thompsons.
