I think I have an explanation of "Knoff Station", at least for the "Station" part which was previously unaddressed. This just came to me. Although there was a passenger stop in Knapp, as I've seen in many timetables in the Dunn County News and Menomonie Times, I don't think the 2nd word is "Station" but "Stanton". Knapp is an incorporated village that is carved out of the Town(ship) of Stanton.
