From Reform newspaper, Eau Claire, 24 Jun 1919 (trans.): Allen Hanson has one of the city's largest grocery stores. He was born on the farm Skrindsveen in Skjåk, Gudbrandsdalen in 1857 and came to Eau Claire in 1879. He worked several years as a mason and plasterer. In 1897 he began (his) grocery store on North Barstow St. in the building where he still is--In 1883 he was married to Karen Lokvam from Tretten, Gudbrandsdalen. They have two children. The son Joel is a doctor in San Francisco and the daughter Alma has just graduated from Wis. University. Allen has been a Trustee in the First (Lutheran) Church several times, an official in "Norden" Worker's Association, and when Gudbrandsdalslaget was founded last year he was the first Vice President.
