PATTEN, Maine - Betty (Plumley) Mooney, 83, died October 14, 2007. She was born June 22, 1924, in Rutland, VT, the daughter of Royd and Irene M. (Bishop) Plumley.
Betty went to her eternal resting place surrounded by her family and friends, gathered up by angels and brought to Jesus, whom she loved. She left a legacy of humility and grace. Her undying spirit will live on in those she inspired. She was a loving person and felt blessed with the life she had. Besides her family, her friends were an enormous blessing to her. She enjoyed going to church and her involvement in various clubs and organizations.
She was a graduate of Rutland High School, 1942, and worked for the Rutland Railroad, where her father was comptroller. In 1950, she married John Michael Gilfeather Mooney.
Betty is survived by her five children, Edward and his wife Hedda of East Millinocket, Irene Campbell of Patten, David Mooney and his friend Betty Stech of Lubec, James of Brewer, Kevin and his wife Sherri of Bangor; proud grandmother of Angela, Jon, Jason, David, William, Ryan, Melissa, Nicholas, Chris and Tracy; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Plumley of Ellenton, FL; one sister-in-law, Martha Plumley of Florence WI; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her best buddy, "Boots." She was predeceased by her parents; husband, John; one granddaughter, Courtney Mae; one brother, Roy Plumley; one brother-in-law, Richard Mooney.
Friends may call 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Stetson Memorial United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tae Sung Kang officiating. Interment will be in the Patten Cemetery.
