I am having a great deal of difficulty locating any info about my great-grandparents. They are from Fond du Lac. My great-grandpa's name was Peter Malson. He was born Jul 8, 1890 & he died Feb 25, 1965. He married Mary Schmitz. I have no specific birth or death date for her, but based on census info I have found, I believe she was born around 1890 or 1891, and she died around 1958. I am most interested in their obituaries, however I would also like any information about their parents. I believe the last name Malson was spelled several different ways before the way my family uses it, which contributes to the confusion. Can anyone locate these obituaries? Any info would be great! Thank you!!!

Have you ever looked at Danny Johnson's newspaper vital statistics? He went through New Brunswick area newspaper between 1784-1896 and compiled the vital stats mentioned in them. You may have some luck with your David Palmer.

I am looking for any information on any Schwebach, Putz or Gitzinger families that lived in Lomira and Theresa in Dodge County between 1860-1890. Michael Schwebach and Angeline Putz were married in a church named St Theresa in April 1865. I was wondering if that church is still standing. They also lived somewhere in the area but I'm not sure where. I would like to visit there soon and see where they lived.

I didn't find an obit for Eugene, but I found two articles about him and a young lady who were flying together to Alaska,
in order to increase their total flying hours so they could apply for their commercial license. Dated August 14, 1941.

In your history do you have that LD LEONARD had a younger brother named Charles (born about 1841)?

As I originally wrote the church entry for the marriage of Charles and Christina stated that his parents were Adam LEONHARDT & Victoria CRUX.

I vaguely remembered that I had finally found Charles & Christina LEONARD in Town of Forest (PO Dotyville), 1870 census. However when I rechecked I found them in Town of Empire right after the Leon D. LEONARD family. According to that Charles was 29 years and born in Prussia. His wife Christina was 22 years and born in Hesse Darmstadt. Both LEONARDs were Millers.

I do not find the couple in subsequent censuses.

Is anything written in your family history about Charles and Christina?

I'm searching long distance from Tehran where I currently live. I come to Wisconsin usually about once a year.

You write that you are descended from the same people. Are you descended from Charles LEONARD & Christina SCHAFER or from Charles' parents Adam and Victoria?

Any idea why they dropped Scheid? There were/are other Scheids in the area.

My interest is in Charles & Christina. I would like to know Charles' background however. And I would like to know what happened to them after their marriage. Were there children? What happened to them?

Are we reasonably certain they are the same people?

Christina was born in Framersheim, Hesse-Darmstadt to Michael SCHAFER/SCHAEFER and Katharine ROTHMANN about 1847. She was the oldest of 6 children as far as I can tell (2 youngest born in US). The family immigrated to Wisconsin and settled near Katharine's brother in the Town of Calumet in 1854. The local church records indicate she married Charles in 1868. No other entries for either of them.

Mother Katharine died in June 1908. The church entry indicates that she was survived by 1 daughter and 4 sons. I know that her other daughter (Katharine Schafer Thuerwachter) didn't die until 1913 and the boys died between 1910 - 1922. So I'm guessing that Christina predeceased her mother. But when? Where?

I'd love to find this missing g-g aunt and any family she might have had.

Rosendale; was born March 10, 1820 in Jefferson Co., N.Y.; son of Eli and Polly Minor Penny; came to Wisconsin in the spring of 1861, and settled on his present farm of 120 acres. Has been Town Assessor for five years. Oct. 15, 1855 he was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Phillip and Catharine (Drummond) Blanchard; she was born in Jefferson Co., N.Y.; they had two children – Clement M. and George E., both deceased.

Charles and Elizabeth were the adoptive parents of my grandfather's stepfather, William G. Penney. Charles R. Penney was last enumerated on the 01 June 1905 Wisconsin Census for Springvale Township, aged 75 years. He was probably born March, 1830 in Henderson, Jefferson County, NY.

William G. Penney was the second Husband of Ellen Hughes. He was clearly listed as the "adoptive-son" of Elizabeth Penney on the 1910 Census for Springvale Township. Charles was not on the 1910 Census.

WF Weber immigrated to the US in 1871, so he would not have been in the civik war. His father is unknown at this time.

WF was the FDL newspaper editor, so he should have an obit...

Eugene Damrow was a flight instructor or a test pilot in the US Air Force.

He died in a plane crash on Oct 15, 1943 in and around Indian Springs, NV.

Do you have an obit for Eugene?
Do you have a story of the crash?

Eugene was born in Wisconsin and had a wife Verna who was expecting their first child at the time of the crash.

The "westscottstreet" database currently contains the following birth/baptism records for St. Peter's:
- All but two (867 out of 869) of the baptisms recorded in Volume 1, which covers the years 1858 through 1874.
- All 1,037 baptisms recorded in Volume 2, which covers 1875-1893.
- About 168 baptisms selected from among those recorded in Volume 3 or a later volume.

Is is hoped that all baptisms in Volume 3 up to the time when civil registration of births became both mandatory and dependable -- say about 1910 -- will eventually be included in the database. However, we do not currently have access to all of these records and possibly might not be able to gain it.

Confirmation, marriage, and death/burial records (with similar volume/year coverage) have been entered into "westscottstreet", but are not in so finished a state and have not been counted.

Birth/baptism records for Church of Peace (earlier known as Evangelische Friedens Kirche) have begun to be entered, beginning with the first baptism on 12 Nov 1871. Because we already have a complete microfilm copy of the early records of this church , all Church of Peace baptisms, marriages, and burials up to about 1910 eventually will be entered into the database, but this is expected to take several months to complete.

I know this was from a really long time ago. But I'm also a decendant of the same people. The Scheid family dropped the name and it is now Leonard. We have some onformation on damily lines but are looking for more. I currently live in Germany, and my parents are visiting here. We're about to go to Brakel and see where they were from. We have information going back 3 more generations. Do you have more than that? Thanks

We received our information from my husband's cousin Laurie Olsen who did quite a little research on our family tree plus hired research to be done in Germany. We are related directly to Adam Loeonard Scheid (born 15 Apr 1791) married Anna Maria Victoria Crux 9 Feb 1818. They had twelve children with the first born 24 Jan 1820 in Brakel. This is our direct ancestor and the oldest child. After completing the Gymnasium (High School) he travel around Europe working in manufacturing plants to learn the coppersmith trade. After about 3 years he returned home with about$100 and enough for a ticket to America.
He arrived in New York City and found work in a brass foundry. He later helped five other brothers and sisters plus his parents come to America. I know that he first moved to Chicago with his brother Herman and started a very successful business there. But the Asiatic-Cholera Epidmeic hit the city and L.D. Leonard (as he went by) moved his family to safety living in Dotyville, Wis. We have the places where their children were born and several were born in Fond du Lac.
Leonard David Scheid or sometimes spelled Scheidt beacause of the unpleasant English translation of Scheid. Other family members followed suit and also took the last name Leonard. This family history is written by a Dr. Charles M. Leonard who knew his uncle LD Leonard. I would need to look at the notes to be more specific, Looking over your notes I don't see right off just how we're connected, but it seems to be the same family. The Scheid family were coppersmiths and surgeons by trade.

We live in Tacoma, WA are are over here visiting our daughter Christina and her husband. We plan to go up to Brakel in the next couple days to see the area. They were Catholic. Also the parents of Adam Leonard Scheid were Franziskus Wilhelmus Sheid and Maria Anna Sophia Crux. This parents were Antonius Scheid and Anna Ursula Linnenschmidt.

There is a mention of John C. Whelan living in Sibley County on pages 465-66 of "The History of the Minnesota Valley". The brief bio is in the section on Transit Township, which was near Winthrop. Also mentioned are the names Daniel and Annie (Campion) Whelan and K.F. Whelan, all born in Ireland.

I think that ancestry has this book scanned and indexed -- otherwise, write to me (if you are still doing research) and I will transcribe the paragraphs for you.

I checked Ancestry. They show him in the 1930 census in Fond du Lac. There is also a newspaper article from 1941 about some of his pilot training.

on farm near Green Lake Center; he m Mrs Minnie Teetz of Ripon in 1912 and later the couple came to Ripon to live; he d at his home on Warren St June 30, 1938, age 65; survived by widow, a bro Carl Rehl of Princeton and several nephews and nieces.

Interment Record:
Herman Rahl d June 30,1938, myocarditis ,arterioschlerosis; inter at Center House, Green Lake Co., was re-interred Aug 12, 1938 on W side Lot 4 Blk 11 (SE Div) 15 ft from S. side; Hillside.

As an aside, the necrol states his wife was Minnie Teetz, however, hers states that she was Minnie Schilling.

William Harrison Bonnell of Rosendale is my gr gr gr grandfather. I have his cemetery records Pioneer cemetery Rosendale WI. He came to WI about 1856 with his Parents William S. Bonnell. You will also find both of them and their wifes in the Erie County PA 1850 census.

I am trying to find all the brothers and sisters of William H. Bonnell and a document showing the the father of William S. Bonnell.

William Harrison Bonnell of Rosendale is my gr gr gr grandfather. I have his cemetery records. He was buried in Rosendale cemetery. I think he came to WI about 1856 with his Parents William S. Bonnell. You will find both of them and thier wifes in the Erie County PA 1850 census. I also have an obituary with children's names and his wifes obituary.

Hoping someone might be willing to check for a death notice for Robert S. PALMER who died 9 Jul 1905 in Fond du Lac.

Originally from New Brunswick, Canada, he was born in 1820 and married to Eliza ?. Father of Mary, Henry and Hamilton. I'm in Canada, so am unable to get into an area library and search myself.

Also looking for information on Robert's brother Enoch who settled in Lamartine.
