I am not related. While researching family in microfilm, I grabbed items that may be of interest to others.

The follow obituary appeared in the Grand County Herald on 1 Apr 1875, page 3, column 6:

DIED.

At Lancaster, on the morning of March 29, after a severe illness of three months, JOEL MANNING, aged 57 years, 10 months and 24 days.

The deceased was born in Salem, COlumbiana Co., Ohio, in the year 1817. He moved to Waukegan, Ills. in 1852 and three years thereafter settled at Lancaster, Wis., where he has since resided. The deceased was for many years an active and consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was a good citizen, a moral guide to the community in which he lived, and departed to the world beyond with the mournful regrets of many. The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. A. L. Cummings, and were attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
