James E. FARMER, 92, formerly of 1021 24th St, Monroe, died Thurs 31 Aug 1989 at Pleasant View Nrsg Home, where he had been a patient since Sept of 1987...born 16 Oct 1896 in Blanchardville, the son of Francis & Alice (JACOBS) FARMER...attended Blanchardville schools...married Ethyle GAVIGAN 5 Oct 1926. She died 17 March 1949...married Leona WYSS 5 Aug 1955. She died 12 Aug 1985. As a young man...worked for the IL Central Railroad. Later he became a barber & had his own shop in the basement of the Ludlow Hotel, then on Smokey Row, and in his home until his retirement...was a member of St. Victor's Catholic Church...survived by two sons, William of Winter Haven FL, & Charles of Dallas TX; a daughter, Mrs Richard (Mary Jane) KUBLY of Janesville; five grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren...preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Charles, John & William, and a sister, Mrs Sam (Frances) MEYERS. Funeral...Tues [5 Sept 1989] at Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. The Rev Roger NILLES of St Victor's Church will officiate. Burial...Calvary Cemetery, Blanchardville...
