I'm quite new to this family research, and happened upon this post of yours.
My gt grandmother was a Rose Coffey Born Collinstown, Meath Ireland 1836/9? and married Aaron Douglas,August 18th,1865 at RC church StFrancis, Melbourne Australia. (Have copy of certificate) Aaron Douglas was possibly born within the Rathmoyen Church of Ireland parish 1837/8, both emigrated to Melbourne Australia independently;
Aaron DOUGLAS arrived in Melbourne on board the 'Chancellor' in February 1858. He paid for his passage out to Australia.. He was 20 years of age and arrived alone, that is with no obvious family..
Rose COFFEY 22) however arrived in Melbourne with her sister Bessy COFFEY (24) on board the 'Telegraph' in July, 1859.
Rose Coffey born 1839 in the parish of Collinstown (Meath). Her father was Michael Coffey. Collinstown in right on the Meath/Westmeath border.
Rose's father is listed as Michael Coffey- Blacksmith, Collingstown, Meath/Westmeath.
Her mother's name is extremely hard to decipher, but looks like Ellen or Elise; Baghew, Bagshaw or Bayhew..?
Aaron's father is listed as George Douglas-Farmer, and with the help of a mutual friend using this site (Robert Bell), I have so far acquired inforation of a George Douglas in 1854 in County Meath Barony Moyfenrath, Lower- Union Trim Parish Ratchcore..
Townland and Place name- Rahnstown.
Any further information you may have would be greatly appreciated!
