Hi,
I am a native of Hurley, WI, am of Italian descent, and am interested in local history. The name Novascone is familiar here on the Gogebic Range. There are Novascones in Ironwood, MI, but none remaining in Hurley. Ironwood and Hurley are twin cities. Also there are Novascones in Bessemer, MI.
ALl of the Gogebic Range communities have significant Italian populations, mostly from the North. I gather Novascone is a Northern Italian name, perhaps Piedmontese, and perhaps from Locana, since many of the Piedmontese of the range are from Locana Canavese. Hope this helps.
Best,
