Churches in Jefferson City 1840s onwards

Hello,

I am trying to determine first, what churches were in the city of Jefferson from 1840s onwards, if those churches have records which still exist and then lastly how to access said records. My ancestor Alex McConnell was born in Perry county, Pennsylvania and moved to Wisconsin. He was married to Elizabeth Hake ca. 1844 in Jefferson.

There is documentation that Alex was a charter member of the "Evangelical" church in Jefferson of which the congregation was said, in this documentation, to have been formed in 1845. The church was then built around 1849. Does anyone know what church this was, what records may exist and where these records are?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am at a brick wall as far as Alex's birthplace// parents' names and also the exact information on Alex and Elizabeth's children in Jefferson.

Thanks,
Jade
