I have read that bio also. What I have been able to put together so far is that Maria A. Sabins (daughter of Edson and Lavina Sabins) was married to this Philo (copy of marriage record)20 Nov 1866 in Bristol WI. The marriage license stated that he was the son of Frederick and Gittie Curtis. Maria A. Sabins was born 16 Mar 1846 in New York and died Nov 1935 in MO. In 1870, census shows Maria Curtis, age 24, living in the home of A.C. Joslyn as a domestic. Her daughter, Dora, is 3 yrs old. This daughter, Pilomena Eldora Curtis was born 11 Feb 1867 in Bristol, WI.
In this bio there is no mention of a second marriage or the child. I'm thinking that given the status of Philo Curtis, there would be no mention but there had to be a divorce.
