I have been looking at the 1876 Plat Map of PIerce Township and I want to know something...
There are words written on what is now called East Alaska Lake. I can make out the word 'LAKE' but not the first word and it definitely doesn't say EAST ALASKA. What was this lake called back when this map was made; perhaps it is easier to read on the original...? If I blow it up to read it becomes blurry and otherwise it is too small to make out.
(I thought maybe it was called Teske Lake, as the family owned so much property surrounding the lakes, but it doesn't really look like those letters...)
I have nearly 'gone blind' trying to make this out (curiosity is killing me!) Does anyone know what the lake was named long ago...?
I am going to check with the town hall (they have some old maps hanging up) but I thought I would post this in hopes that someone might know...
