Hello Dan,

I come from Schweiners who have lived for some generations in the Green Bay Wisconsin area. My Father Louie E Schweiner, Son of John Schweiner, left Green Bay when he was about 17 and moved to southern California. I have 5 siblings.

I strongly suspect we are of the family you are researching, but despite my interest in our genealogy, I have not yet taken the time to research it.

By coincidence, I am travelling this week from my home in Hawaii to visit my parents in California. If this response is of interest, let me know right away, and perhaps we could collaborate while I am in my father's company.

Aloha for now, John Schweiner

Thank you for your reply! I would love to see the photo's you have of the church. Feel free to contact me via email at dawnmoder@northfieldwifi.com I have 5 ancestors in that cemetery all under the name Graunke (my maiden name). I hope to find that cemetery some time this summer when visiting family in Neenah or Green Bay. I will definitely be contacting the Methodist church in Denmark, I have so little information on this branch of my family. I appreciate the help!
With gratitude,
Dawn (Graunke) Moder
The records are at the Methodist church in Denmark, WI. I have viewed them about 4 years ago. Probably still there. The church was razed in 1962. I have photos of the church and it being razed if interested. I have 4 ancestors buried in the same cemetery.

Tom Duescher

Zion United Methodist Church
231 Chicago St, Denmark, WI 54208
(920) 863-2727

There once was a church adjacent to the Zion Cemetery near Montpelier, WI. Anyone have any ideas where the church records would have been transferred to when the church was razed in the 1940's?

We are in the same family. My grandfather was Joseph Eckstein, brother of John.
I have learned from other sources that there actually were men traveling in Europe selling land grants. My remaining question would be, how did an illiterate peasant have the money to buy a land grant?
You will find the gravesites of both Johns in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Carlton, Kewaunee, WI.

This sound like my relative. Haven't been looking on Ancestry for some time & now I see something on John Eckstein. John Jr. married my great grandmother, Barbara (Novak-Krofta)Simonek. Her parents are George & Anna Novak but on the marriage record, it shows her father as George Simonek and her mother as Anna Novak. I do have a copy of their marriage certificate which I had gotten at Kewaunee Deeds Office some years ago. The son, John, lived with his daughter (Anna Eckstein-Repitz) in his last years.

It's possible that he may have known someone who had told him about the land prior to moving to the US and he purchased the land to move his family onto the land upon arriving to the US. That may have been what brought him to the US with his family. I'm sure the owners didn't care as long as they got their money. I'm hoping to travel to Kewaunee County in mid May. I could ask to see what kind of an answer they give me.

Belgian immigrants to Robinsonville-Champion, Brown County, WI
Ed, we have some of those names as well, settling here as well. Rubens Bodart desjardins in our tree are often parents or spouses of some, but seem to have a connection in that way.

Some ones I have found few researching are the ones here.

Surnames: LeFevre, Nellis, Rubens, Destiche Cravillion
I am researching the LeFevre, Nellis, Rubens, Destiche with connections to Cravillions, Ducats, Namurs & others who immigrated from areas of Belgium to the Northeast side of Brown County, Southern Door County and Kewaunee Counties in the 1855-1857 time period. I have a great deal of information already accumulated and researched and am hoping to connect some of the missing links and pieces that exist. If you connect with any of these families, please let me know, as perhaps we can fill in some missing details for one another!

ALSO, I wondered if any of you have went to research the documents on file with any of the local historical societies, libraries, and/or the Mormon Church locally/in Brown County, Wisconsin or elsewhere? If so, I am interested in learning of information or documentation that can be found by visiting any of these locations, to determine the value of time put into doing just that.

Thank you!

Pat
We are trying to connect all Blahniks and this is a branch I don't have researched real well.

I do have a Frances Worachek (November 29, 1838-Mar 14, 1886) that married Mathias Blahnik Sr. from the Algoma Blahnik family. Their daughter Frances Blahnik (October 25, 1870-February 25, 1964) married Robert Brunk also John F. Adams and Conrad Arnold.
Can you email me to help sort it out? Thanks, Lori

Hi, I do the Blahnik web page you referred to. I'll have to look more for information about Wenzel (Thomas) Blahnik born 1844 in Bohemia who married Anna (Emma) Worachek - daughter of Frank and Barbara (Husic) Husik.

I know for sure that the Thomas Blahnik born Oct 28, 1843 was a miller from U Blahniku #89 outside of Chodsko Lhota. Agnes Hallama commissioned some research about him because he is one of her ancestors.
He does not seem to be the Thomas Wenzel Blahnik you speak of. This Thomas married Barbara Bretl of Germany and 2 of their 5 children came to Canada. There is a descendent that is now part of the Blahnik DNA group.

Info on this Thomas includes:
Research commissioned by Agnes Hallama, conducted by David Hohout, Janackovo nabrezi 57, 150 00 Praha 5, Czech Republic
Archives SRA of Plzen, in the book no 24 of the roman-catholic parish Loucim, on page 65

Date of birth: Oct 28th 1843
dte of christening; 29th October
Birth place: Blahnik's mill, house #89 (but not listed of what village)

Name: Thomas
catholic, male born in lawful wedlock
The father: Adam Blahnik, the locat master miller, the matrimonical son of Jakub Blahnik, the local master miller - and of deceased Apolonia, born in the village Vilov, in the area of Chudenice estate.
The mother: Anna, the matrimonial daughter of Johann Weber, the day-labourer of Horsovky Tyn - and of deceased Mare nee (Radeg (?) from Hrichovice
The Godfather: Thomas Blahnik, the local master miller, +++ (=illiterate person) and Rosalie Kubovec, the farmer (female) from Libkov, +++
Baptised:Franz Lehrmann, the chaplian
The midwife: same (=Maria Foreit)
===
Now there is a Thomas who married Anna Vacek in IA but her parents were Joseph (Valcek) Vacek and Katarina Kraul
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XJZ1-6JD

I think it could be more liekly that Wenzel and Anny Blahnik from Carlton may have been the Wenzel Blahnik and Anna Woracek and this could be their daughter's marriage:

Wenzel Blahnik in entry for Joseph Koudelka and Farrie Blahnik, "Wisconsin, Marriages, 1836-1930
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRPX-29T

groom's name: Joseph Koudelka
groom's birth date:
groom's birthplace: Rostek, Bohemian Europe
groom's age:
bride's name: Farrie Blahnik
bride's birth date:
bride's birthplace: Carlton, Kewaunee, Wisconsin
bride's age:
marriage date: 16 Apr 1901
marriage place: Carlton House, Kewaunee, Wisconsin
groom's father's name: Anton Koudelka
groom's mother's name: Anny Koudelka
bride's father's name: Wenzel Blahnik
bride's mother's name: Anny Blahnik

How does the name Thomas come about with this Wenzel Blahnik?
Hi Janice -

This is many years after your post, but I wonder if you have seen this site:

http://blahnik.accessgenealogy.com/Index.htm

It is about the Blahnik family, but there are Woraceks/Woracheks/Voraceks there as well in multiple branches. I don't know if it was a common name or if there was a lot of intermarriage going on. I have both Blahniks and Woraceks in my tree, but I cannot establish whether they are related to yours.

I believe these might be "your" Woraceks:

http://blahnik.accessgenealogy.com/PAF%209.4.11/p_6a.htm#262...
http://blahnik.accessgenealogy.com/PAF%209.4.11/n_45.htm#2

I don't know if this adds anything for you, but figured I'd post it in case it does... if nothing else, you can keep an eye on it in case of future updates. Good luck! :)

- Michelle

The ancestry of George (Jiri) Stangel 1795-1872 is taken from his toumbstone at cemetery #66 St. Mary Catholic Tisch Mills Manitowoc County, Wisconsin as well as a Stangel Family Tree Booklet published after the June 1976 Stangel family reunion at Stangelvill Wisconsin. The Family booklet lists George and his wife Mary Mlezvia coming to America in 1853. They had three sons, Joseph, John and Wenzil and a daughter Mary. George had two sisters, Mary and Barbara. Their parents were John 1756-1797 and Katharina Piwonka, both buried at The Catholic cemetery at the Domazlice church in Checzoslovakia. John's father was George born 1725 in Munich Bavaria and I have no information as to George's parents. Since this Family Tree Booklet was researched and verified through Many Stangel family records I believe in it's accuracy. If anyone wishes to contact me you can use my e-mail address.
lpgizz@yahoo.com

John Stangel was my grandmother Carrie's uncle. I am a decendent of his brother Joseph W. Stangel 1854 -1932.
In June of 1976 there was a Stangel family reunion in Stangelvill, Wi. From this reunion a booklet was written
of 5 generations of Stangels back to George Stangel born in
Munich Bavaria in 1725. He had three sons, John, Joseph and Jacob and daughter Elizabeth. Our family line of decent is from John 1756-1797. Before emigrating to America the Stangels lived in Straz, Bohemia and were buried at the Catholic cemetary at the Domazlice church in Czech. I have been unable to research the Stangel name before 1725. Do you have or know where I can search for information on the Stangel name? Thanks. You may contact me by e-mail, lpgospy@yahoo.com
Sam, I do have information on Frederick Uecker married to Caroline Kohls with descendants. Emilia, however, all I have is a date of birth abt. 1853. I just printed a FTM report and it is 13 pages of descendants. The question maybe if Emilia was born to his first wife and that is where the Nell question comes in. Who was she?
Whilemina Uecker and Albert Luedtke were my great grandparents.

Hi Dan... I am researching the KADLEC/KADLETZ family as is several others. I am wondering where you came up with a maiden name of "Schweiner" for Katherine whom was wife of Lawrence/Lorenz KADLETZ? Fri. when I was looking at hard copy records I had found maiden name to be MACH/MACHA. This leads me to think that either she was married twice, or there are two Lawrence KADLETZ in the area that were both married to a Katherine. I honestly have not found two of them though. Did your Katherine d: 10/22/1911 and was b:8/20/1831?

Nine years later, and I reply. LOL. Better late than never. I notice there are several Louis Rankins, so I believe Sue is asking about a different Louis Rankin than who you describe. The Louis Rankin she is referring to married Cecile Renier. For whatever reason Louis' parents, Joseph Gigot, Sr. and Caroline Haulotte had two children with the last name Gigot, and four with the last name Rankin, one being Louis. It's a mystery to me. Louis Rankin is my great-grandfather.
