John G. Garland, 42, 716 McIndoe St., Wausau, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Ritter & Deutsch Funeral Home, Wausau and at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. The Very Rev. John Murphy will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Elks Lodge Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The parish rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Garland was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Wausau, to the late John E. Garland and Esther Garland, who survives. On Nov. 27, 1954, in Wausau he married Rita Greenheck Dalnodar, who survives.
He worked as a sales representative for Lewis Container Corporation and was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 248, Wausau Country Club, 40 et 8, was a past commander of American Legion Post No. 10, and served as chairman of the Marathon County March of Dimes in 1946. He joined the Marine Corps in 1943 and served in the Philippines.
Surviving, besides his wife and mother, are two sons, John and Thomas, and two daughters, Anne and Pamela, all at home; two step-sons, Robert, Fort Monmouth, N.J., and Michael, Milwaukee, and one brother, Patrick, High Point, N.C.
