GERALD R. KLAVER

Gerald R. Klaver, 61 of Porterfield, passed away on November 27,2006, at his home from a long battle of heart disease. Born in Marinette, on December 26, 1944, to Theodore C. Klaver and Laurine (Seguin).

He graduated from Catholic Central in 1963 and was employed by Scott Paper in Marinette for 35 years. He married Janet Johnson in 1965 in Marinette and then moved to the Porterfield area after buying his in-laws home in 1968. He and his wife raised, showed and sold horses. They were some of the original founders ofthe Triple "W" Saddle Club and were members for many years. He also raised Belgians and used them for weddings, hayrides and parades. For a few years he raced thoroughbreds in Wisconsin and Minnesota with a good friend, Jerry Shepherd. He also had a sand and gravel business for a while called Klaver's & Sons. He dabbled in old cars, restoring a 1955 Studebaker and 1966 Chevy Convertible. Jerry and his father-in-law, Edward S. Johnson, also built a 1919 Model T. After retiring he helped his son, Ted, establish a lawn care business. He enjoyed ice fishing with his best friend Jerry Peters. He was an avid deer hunter, bow and rifle. He was enthusiastic about creating supplemental food plots on the 100 Acre Wood with his two sons. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and he had a nickname for each one of them.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 41 years; his mother; mother-in-law, Jeannete Johnson; two sons: Todd (friend, Marie) and Ted (Rebecca) all of Porterfield; five grandchildren: Tyler (Ugly), Jordan (Big Kid), Ryley (Mortimer Schnurd), Leandra (Thor), and Kaden (Buck Snort); siblings: Judy (Thomas) Pazdera of Marinette, and Mary Lee (Ronald) Swiatnicki of Howard; sisters-in-law, Geri (Frank) Trepanier of Pulaski, and Donna Vista of Porterfield; brother-in-law, Doug (Janet) Johnson of Bowle; and many nieces and nephews. His father, Theodore C. Klaver; his brother, Theodore E. Klaver; his father-in-law, Edward S. Johnson; his brother-in-law, Edward D. Johnson; and sister-in-law, Betty Johnson, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at BERTH AND ROSENTHAL FUNERAL HOME from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m.

In a special note: Jerry wanted all the guys he worked with, and friends to know that he was the best looking of all of you and you're all number one.
