Okay, here are some more hints. I figure maybe Sally's Mom got remarried, or for some other reason, she had a different last name in the census. I cannot find James in the census prior to 1940 either.
So, this is perhaps her husband Robert in 1940, notice he is listed as widowed with a son, Robert Jr.

This may be the son in 1930, living with a "Taddis" family

Mrs. Baumgartner
Mrs. Sally Van Trady Baumgartner,
45, of 29 Seel street, Dunkirk,
died at her home Sunday
evening. The emergency t r u c k
was called at 10:25 p.m., and oxygen
was administered but Mrs.
Baumgartner was already dead of
of a heart attack.
The wife of Robert E. Baumgartner,
she was born May 27,
1914, in Marionette,(sic) Wisc. She
lived in Chicago for a time and
had been a resident of Dunkirk
for the past 17 years.
Mrs. Baumgartner attended
Grace Lutheran church.
Surviving are Mr. Baumgartner,
a daughter, Miss Roberta M.
Baumgartner, and a brother,
James Van Trady, of Chicago.

parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Baumgartner, 29 Seel street, entertained
a group of HEr friends at
a birthday party. The girls attended
a movie and returned to
the Baumgartner home for refreshments
The group presented
Roberta with gifts.
On Sunday the Baumgartners
celebrated the birthday of Miss
Sylvia Zimmerman, of K i n g
street, who was a dinner guest at
their home.
