Mrs. Anna Dorothea Gannigan, 86, of Grover died at her home in Grover, Sunday. Mrs. Gannigan was born in Breslau, Germany, September 11, 1866. She came to America with her parents in 1871 and settled on a farm near Reedsville, WI. She married William Abel in 1885 who died in 1901. She later married Gottleib Gannigan.
The remains were taken to the Berth and Rosenthal funeral home in Peshtigo and were then taken to the Henry Gannigan residence in Grover Wednesday noon.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 1:30pm and at the church at 2pm today, with Rev AA Hellmann officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetary. Her husband Gottleib, preceded her in death 12 years ago on the same day, September 14.
She is survived by six sons, Emil Abel of Reedsville, August Abel of Milwaukee, Robert Abel of Grover, Carl Gannigan of NY, Henry Gannigan of Grover and Gottleib Gannigan Jr., of Grover; five daughters, Mrs. Rose Shelley of Oshkosh, Mrs. Simon Moberg of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Mrs. Clarence Nystrom of Pasadena, CA, Mrs. William Marquardt of Grover and Mrs. Oscar Matt of Sheboygan; six stepchildren, Otto, Ernest, Paul and William Gannigan, Mrs. Lena Last and Mrs Alma Schroeder; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Busse of Reedsville and Mrs Bertha Ludke, 21 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren.
