On Tuesday evening, Jan 22 (1929), death claimed one of Wautoma's oldest citizens, when Mrs Caroline Ernestine SCHULTZ, nee HINZ, was called to the eternal rest at the age of nearly 92.
She was born in Gornitz, Germany on April 19, 1837; was united in marriage to Aug. Schultz in 1860, and came to America with her husband and seven children in 1881. The family resided for some years on a farm in the town of Crystal Lake, Marquette County.
About 27 years ago Mr and Mrs Schultz moved to Coloma to live with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs John BROSINSKA. Soon thereafter, in 1903, Mr Schultz died, Mrs Schultz continuing to live with the Brosinska family, and eventually coming to Wautoma with them.
She leaves six children, as follows: Mrs Bertha MEYER in Neshkoro, Julius Schultz in Wautoma, Mrs Emma BOESKE in Oshkosh, Herman Schultz in Wautoma, Mrs Alvina Brosinska in Wautoma, and Mrs Hulda GRAHN in Fox Lake. One daughter, Mrs Minnie MEYER of Neshkoro died not quite two years ago. She also leaves 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Because of the stormy weather funeral services could not be held in the church. Her pastor conducted a funeral service for her in the Brosinska home to a large number of relatives and friends on Friday afternoon, Jan 25. On Monday, Jan 28 her body was tenderly laid to rest beside that of her husband in the cemetery of the Lutheran church in
Budsin, the condition of the roads making burial before that day impossible.
