Wayne R. Reiter
Wayne R. Reiter, age 65, of Keshena, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in Green Bay after a courageous battle with lymphoma cancer.
Born on Oct. 22, 1944 in Keshena, he was the youngest son of the late Louis Mitchell and Elvira (Oshkenaniew) Reiter. On Sept. 30, 1971 he was united in marriage to Charleen Miller. Wayne was a very accomplished individual. From a young age, people could see how unique of a person he was, and he proved them right. He was a self-starter, motivated, intelligent and very determined, from opening a tavern in Shawano to operating successful gas stations in Keshena and Shawano for 25 years with other side businesses along the way. Wayne was one of the original business members of the first Menominee Chamber of Commerce, he also served on the Menominee Gaming Commission, was the Student Advocacy Program Director, operated as an OTR Truck Driver for Cantencamp, a licensed realtor, and ultimately returned to welding with Highview Fabricating in Green Bay for the past nine years. Some of his favorite hobbies included building trailers, gambling, riding four-wheelers, and spending time with his three grandsons. He was very crafty and could build anything from the ground up, with or without instructions.
Wayne is survived by: his wife of 38 years, Charleen; two daughters, Margo Reiter of Keshena, Cynthia (Curtiss Summers) Reiter of Green Bay; three grandsons, John Robert, Curtiss Roy Jr., Royce Hudson all of Green Bay; one brother, Warren (Harriet) Reiter of Oneida; and two sisters, Lorraine (Paul) Swett of Keshena and Lois Jean Webster of Keshena.
Wayne was preceded in death by: his parents, Louis Mitchell and Elvira Reiter; three brothers, Kenneth “Brother” Reiter and two others in infancy; brother-in-law, James “Teeter” Webster, Jr.; nephew, Paul “Dooner” Swett, Jr.; and grandparents, Antone and Susan (Cardish) Reiter, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Keshena. Family and friends may call at St. Michael Parish Hall after 6 p.m. on Thursday until the time of the service on Saturday. A Parish Wake Service will be held Friday evening at the St. Michael Parish Hall. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
