There are death notices in the German papers for both a Fred. Menger and an Ernestine Menger. These are indexed in a resource being created since your posting in 2002. Also family death notices for a Paul Menger. I'm wondering if an even earlier generation was Johann Georg Menger? There are also Menger connections referenced with the names Diederich Straub Schoenecker Staudt. There are just a couple of Strömer (Stroemer) / Stromer entries in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
