Those families did put their family death notices in the German papers. The index also shows a Gustav A. Wegner (survived by Ida).
Similar information may be found in the Milw. Journal or Sentinel of that day. But besides clear evidence of German immigrant heritage, the German papers present the notices with more distinction and with more respect. Researchers who compare the clippings from these papers know what I mean.
