Over the years I have accumulated quite a bit of information about Seymour. I will be happy to send you a PDF file with what I have found of his early years that probably are of the most interest to you and the Matilda side of his life. I need an email address to send it to you, ancestry only allows picture or GED files to be attached.
He ultimately had three wives, Fanny is my great grandmother. Also there was a book written a couple of years ago about the Civil War that Seymour is mentioned in (not accurately except in the footnotes). The name of the book is "Memoirs of a Dutch Mudsill" by David Gould and James B Kennedy.
I would appreciate you sharing anything information you have on either Matilda or Seymour. The one thing I have yet to find is a photo of Seymour that can be varified.
