I'm not sure how (or if) this fits in, but here's a brief article from the 9 March 1911 edition of the Decatur (IL) Daily Review:
"Rockford, March 9 -- Rev. Courtland H. Livingston, whose disappearance from the Newman, Ill. church last week resulted in the exposure of his alleged criminal and thieving traits, is also wanted in this city.
A few days ago he came here, met many of his acquaintances and succeeded, it is said, in passing a bogus check for $250."
Does the middle initial "H." help identify this individual relative to the one mentioned in the Baptist Church article from Stevens Point, or the Wisconsin Civil War hero?
Sounds like a pretty good mystery. Happy hunting!
