It was also a Tuberculosis sanatorium. High Ridge, as it was last known before it was torn down around 1980, was used to house elderly people before it was torn down. It was previously a county hospital and home for indigent residents and is connected to a potter's field located just east of it's old location.
It was replaced with the present Ridgewood, located just southeast of the old location, on Wood Rd. Some residents from High Ridge and Sunny Rest were relocated to Ridgewood.
