MORDECAI SAYLES OF EVANSVILLE, IS DEAD
Deceased Celebrated His Ninetieth Birthday Last January--Had 20 Great-Grandchildren.
Mordecai Sayles, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Evansville, died at an early hour Wednesday morning. Deceased was born Jan. 19, 1816, in West Bloomfield, Ontario county, New York. He came to Wisconsin in 1845, locating in Darien, Walworth county. In 1868 he moved to Magnolia township. His first wife was Miss Lucy P beebe of New York, whom he married March 29, 1837, and who died May 31, 1868. He was married Sept. 8, 1869, to Miss Nancy Windsworth, who survives him. There wer eight children by the first wife and three by the second, and thirty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren are still living. The family joined in a celebration of Mr. Sayles' ninetieth birthday last January. Deceased had been in failing health for some time. The funeral is to be held tomorrow.
